Twisted Pitcher

black stoneware body, thinly applied glaze
light tan speckled stoneware body, sponged glaze

This design came about when I was playing with making tall, twisted forms from repeating shapes with one straight edge and one curved- which would butt up against each other to create the faceted sides of the object. I love playing with slab construction, it’s like a cross between dressmaking and joinery, and twice as fiddly as either... but the satisfaction when the piece comes together makes the cursing and frustration well worth it.
I’ve made a few of these now, but each one comes out slightly differently. Surprisingly, they pour pretty well! This is probably as close to functional ware as I’m ever likely to get...
