Beach Moon Gate

light tan speckled stoneware body, layered glazes

I made this piece while thinking about forms that might be fun as vessels for japanese-style flower arranging. The interior splits into three sections so that flowers can be arranged by putting long stems into the legs of the piece or shorter ones into a kenzan in the shallower dish part at the top.
The glazing was inspired by the beaches here in Nova Scotia- I was pleasantly surprised by the result!
